FedEx doubles down on South America
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. has expanded in Pudahuel, Chile, with its largest ecommerce-focused distribution center in South America.
The company went from having 7,600 to 14,000 square meters for the distribution of small packages for residential customers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for their national and international ecommerce shipments. In addition, the distribution center incorporates a new state-of-the-art sorter, which allows it to process 6,000 packages per hour, doubling its original capacity, FedEx says.
“The last two years have been very dynamic for our operations. Immediately after the opening of our facilities in the commune of Pudahuel, we continued working to incorporate state-of-the-art technology and increase our daily package processing and storage capacity by 50%,” says FedEx Express Chilean director of operations Matías Reguera, “All this goes hand in hand with our purpose of being leaders in the national ecommerce category, taking into account the needs of SMEs that sell their products online.”
With a fleet of more than 880 vehicles, a network of 32 distribution centers, 53 FedEx shipping centers and 11 FedEx authorized shipping centers, FedEx Express offers national coverage in Chile, e-commerce solutions for national and international shipments, and a broad portfolio of international services for inbound and outbound shipments, with daily flights connecting customers with possibilities in more than 220 countries and territories around the world.
